Diagnosis Pathway

The Autism Assessment and Diagnosis Service (AADS) carry out assessments for adults who suspect they may be on the autistic spectrum. This service is part of the joint Health and Social Care Team, within Milton Keynes Council and Milton Keynes Community Health Services.

What do we do?
The team’s role is the assessment and diagnosis of autistic spectrum conditions. Individuals may be referred to the team for this purpose, if the person is eligible for long term support this would then this would be offered by one of our long term intervention teams.

Who is part of the team?
The team is made up of nurses, social workers and psychologists.

How do I contact the team?
You can telephone us direct on (01908) 253001. Anyone can make a referral, as long as the person agrees. Referrals can be made through the Adult Social Care Access Team (ASCAT) on (01908) 253772 or the Adult Mental Health Assessment and Short Term Intervention team (ASTI) on (01908) 605650.

Referrals can be made through the completion of a referral form and an autism screening tool available from the Milton Keynes Council website. Both elements must be submitted to us.

What happens next?
A member of the AADS team will make contact with the person to be assessed and arrange time with them for a formal assessment.

We will make contact within 14 days of receipt of a completed referral and screening tool.

When is the team available?
The team is available Monday to Friday between the hours of 0900 and 1700.

Where is the team based?
The team is based at Tower Drive Centre, in Neath Hill.
